Living Room Inspiration Board

Happy Friday, y'all! Today I wanted to share my inspiration board for my current living room. Although I have been in my apartment for just under a year, I still have a lot of decorating to do. My living room is a calming mix of white, brown, and navy. It is coming along nicely and I have gotten my main pieces purchased at this point- couch, coffee table, rug. Now, I am just looking for those personal decor touches to make it my own!

Pillows. I absolutely love the mix of patterns with these pillows. The navy component keeps them tied together, while incorporating more colors into the room! Each are available in different sizes to find exactly what you need to dress up your couch!

Couch. The tufted back on this couch is gorgeous. It is very romantic and feminine. My couch is a tan color, but I am currently lacking the tufted back. That is definitely going to be a feature in my next couch!

Tray. This is a great tray to help keep things organized on your table. I have a similar tray that I found in the Target holiday section that works for me year-round! Target is a great source for affordable home items in my opinion!

Coffee Table. This is actually my coffee table! I adore it. It is from Pottery Barn, and I seriously love everything about it from the color to the wheels. I store extra blankets folded up in the bottom for easy access from the couch!

Candle. I also have this candle. It has a fun story behind it- I always love how each Anthropologie store smells when I go shopping there. Last time I walked into the Georgetown store, I was totally consumed by the smell and asked the sales lady where I can find the source. She paraded me through the whole store to find them- when they were actually where we started! They had the candles burning up in the front of the store. I had to leave with one. It is even more perfect for my living room since the tin matches my color scheme!

Coffee Table Books. I am still hunting for the perfect coffee table books to stack on my tray. I love these 2 and may be starting my collection soon!

Rug. Geometric printed rugs are a gorgeous way to add a little something extra to your living room. I have a shag herringbone rug that I found at Marshall's but I absolutely love this bold print from Urban Outfitters!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend and enjoy all of the Super Bowl snacks and commercials Sunday!!

What is your living room color scheme? Do you have any must-haves decor pieces that I may have missed? Please share your thoughts in a comment below!

On My Horizon

Happy Wednesday, folks! I am so excited that my birthday is tomorrow! While no birthday is as exciting as the ones past {16, 18, 21, etc.}, who doesn't love a day that's all about feeling special?! Last year, I had to work with my boss on my birthday and the day after, so I didn't have the opportunity to do much celebrating. But this year, I truly have a ton to celebrate! And some great people to do so with me. As if I needed more excitement right now- I actually have an upcoming trip to Disney World with my boyfriend, so I have decided to fill this post with all things Disney!! Here it goes:

1. Emma Watson as Belle

Beauty-and-the-Beast

Beauty and the Beast is my all time FAVORITE Disney Princess movie. I have always adored the story, and could not be more thrilled with the casting for the live-action movie that will begin filming later this year. This article basically sums up my feelings on the matter, and I CANNOT stress how excited I am to see this when it comes out!

2. Ears Quiz

When I went to Disney with my girlfriends last year, we all got different ears to wear throughout our park day. It was great because we all ended up finding ears that "match" our personalities. I have an all silver sequin pair, you know- to go with my sparking personality, and I can't wait to bring them on this next trip! To be honest, it was one of those purchases that strangely made me feel like an adult. As a kid, I always wanted the extras {like ears, costumes, you get it..} during our family trips to Disney. I would put forth my best effort and sweetest voice when asking mom and dad. Still, these requests were answered with a firm no. Coming back to the parks without my parents and having my own source of income, I bee-lined straight to the store when we got to the parks and satisfied my inner child! It's crazy how a little item like that can create such a strong feeling of adulthood! Not sure what ears you would pick? No problem- of course Disney has a fix for that! Take this quiz to find out what ears are meant for you! To no surprise, I got sparkly Minnie ears!

3. Disney App

On the topic of the changes that Disney has undergone since my childhood, the biggest change for me was definitely the park experience. We chose to stay at a Disney resort and really got to enjoy the full Disney experience. The magic bands, Mickey waffles, character meals- it was magical. My favorite update is that you are able to connect your tickets/bands to the MyDisneyExperience App! You are able to schedule rides, see attraction times, set reminders, make dining reservations, and so much more! It's amazing to have the maps at your fingertips too, no need to carry around all of the paper copies. I know I will discover even more great things included in here during this trip!

Do you have a favorite Disney Princess/Character? What is your favorite memory at the parks?

Super Bowl Snack Ideas

Every year, my birthday is closely followed by Super Bowl Sunday! While I am admittedly not an NFL fan, I look forward to the atmosphere, commercials, and snacks that accompany the game. I'm not entirely sure what I'll do for the game this year, but rest assured that there will be a snack involved! I wanted to share some ideas I'm entertaining for snacks this year:

Slow Cooker Spinach and Artichoke Dip - Simply throw everything in the crockpot for the easiest, most effortless spinach and artichoke dip!

Channeling-Contessa-Fried-Ravioli-3
Fried Ravioli with Cheesy Marinara Sauce via Clara Persis
Sausage Balls, Paula Deen

pizza rolls
Pepperoni Pizza Rolls via Buns In My Oven
In the past I've made Buffalo Chicken Dip which is always a hit, but I want to do something new this year. Gotta keep things exciting! Here's hoping my choice will be a success!

Ps: How cute is this football serving tray?! I can already envision my snacks sitting atop this beauty!

What's your favorite football-watching snack? Do you have a go-to appetizer recipe that you bring to gatherings?

Weekend Recap

This weekend was a soggy one. We got a wintery mix on Friday that kept me inside. Although I had to cancel my plans, it ended up being a blessing because I was able to tidy up my apartment {which was much needed}. I don't know what's been my problem lately- I typically like to keep my place very clean- but I keep finding other things to do instead of pick up. It seems as though the mess hasn't been high on my priority list. I got a new assignment at work that is keeping me SUPER busy, so when I get home I am just exhausted. Hopefully now that it's clean I can get back into my usual habits and keep things nice!

On Saturday I did a little touristy day around the city with a new transplanted friend. She hasn't done much exploring since her arrival, and I thought it was about time! We went to a few Smithsonian museums, visited the White House, saw the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, and the WWII Memorial. We racked up over 20,000 steps on my beloved FitBit {read more about that here}! My favorite thing of the day was definitely the Degas exhibit at the National Gallery of Art. It was seriously exquisite! The "Little Dancer Aged Fourteen" original sculpture is up there. If you look closely, you can see the real human hair *ick* braided underneath the wax. His attention to detail is incredible, and I love all of his ballerina paintings. If you are up in the area, I highly suggest dropping in before it leaves us in February! Here are a few pics from the exhibit:

Today I had a lazy day of watching the Food Network, reading my favorite blogs, running a few errands, and ended with a girls evening. Isn't it just great to have the kind of friend you can eat takeout in your pjs with? I can't think of a better gal pal to have! We got some Wegman's sushi {um is anyone else out there ADDICTED to this too?!} and watched "A Walk Among the Tombstones." Totally dramatic and action packed, but still a good movie. I actually screamed into my blanket during a few of the scenes! The conversation that followed the movie definitely lightened the mood. One friend said she wanted to have Liam Neeson as her dad, while the other would rather date him. Honestly I'm not concerned with how I'd get him on my team, but he's the kinda guy you want to be with and not against.

I hope your weekend was equally as rejuvenating and that y'all have a great week!!

What did you do this weekend? Have you seen the traveling Degas exhibit? What did you think?

On My Horizon

Happy Wednesday y'all! I hope you've had a great week so far. I'm really excited, next Thursday is my birthday! It always sneaks up on me, with it being so close after Christmas. One of my co-worker's birthdays is Monday, so we are all going out Tuesday night to celebrate. Then I think I'm going out for dinner and some cocktails on Friday! I can't wait. Here's what on my horizon this week...

1. Brooklyn Brine Pickles

via
For Valentine's Day a few years ago, I wanted to get my guy something special and unique. He loves pickles, and is really into whiskey/bourbon drinks. I found the perfect combination for him- whiskey sour pickles!! I got them from a small market-style shop in Atlanta, and also found some when I was in Chelsea Market in New York {you can read more about that here}. I also found that you can buy them on Amazon- which is great news to me! You can check out the flavors on their website. I really like the Whiskey Sour Pickles and the Hop-Pickles.

2. Round Mirrors

Lately, I have been looking for a mirror to hang on my wall in my living room. I have been leaning towards something unique and I have been so drawn to round mirrors. Here are a few that have caught my eye. I'm just not sure why I can't seem to pick one, but I am crazy about this first one!

3. Delaware Police Officer Gets Down to TSwift

Have y'all seen this?! I know I've mentioned before how I love to dance in my car and I probably look something like this. I love how you can tell when he's at traffic signals or passes people... SO FUNNY!

Have you tried those pickles? What home decor item are you coveting?
